
Edward B. Lipkin, CEO and President
Ed has been President since 1976. Under his stewardship, the company has evolved through the opportunities and challenges of the past three decades.To date, he has developed, redeveloped, and managed over 200 projects.Currently, Ed is focused on transforming three of the company’s oldest properties into transit-oriented
mixed-use residential villages. This program seeks to encourage mixed-use developers to
create environmentally responsible neighborhoods that integrate the principles of smart growth,
new urbanism, and green building.He is among a select group of developers chosen by the U.S. Green Building Council to develop a method for projects under the LEED ND Pilot Program.
Ed is a past trustee of the International Council of Shopping Centers and is a current and frequent speaker for ICSC. He is a founding member of The Responsible Property Investing Project (RPIP) at Boston College; He is a current member of ICSC as well as the Urban Land Institute and Green Building Council. The RPIP is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to create value for companies and society by improving the economic, social, and environmental profile of the real estate investment.
In addition to Ed's involvement with EBL&S, he serves many philanthropic organizations. He has served as President of Friends of Rittenhous Square and was a board member of Woodlynde School. Currently, he is a board member of Friends of Acadia National Park and the Patient-Facilitated Program at the University of Pennsylvania Health System.
Howard M. Levy, Executive Vice President of Leasing and Asset Management
Howard serves as Executive Vice-President of Leasing and Asset Management at EBL&S.
He has been responsible for the leasing of 9.5 million square feet of commercial real estate
and has been involved in the acquisition and disposition of commercial property in excess
of $1 Billion.
Prior to joining EBL&S in 1983, Howard was with Price Waterhouse. He is a member of the
Urban Land Institute and has participated with the International Council of Shopping Centers
on numerous national events.
David A. Simon, CFO and Vice President of Property Management
David, a Certified Public Accountant, has been with EBL&S since 1987 and currently serves as
Vice-President and Chief Financial Officer. He is responsible for the company’s day-to-day accounting,
finance, and property management functions. David is also responsible for obtaining
and maintaining the company’s relationships with its corporate and property financial institutions.
He has successfully completed various financing transactions including lines of credit,
construction financing, entitlement financing, and first mortgage financing.
Prior to joining EBL&S, David was on the audit staff of Price Waterhouse. He received a Bachelors
of Science degree in Accounting/Finance from Lehigh University and is a member of the
Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the American Institute of Certified
Public Accountants.
Alan R. Talansky, Senior Vice President of Development
Alan serves as Senior Vice President of Development for EBL&S. He is the leader of the EBL&S
mixed-use, transit-oriented development practice and has led the Station Park Green Project in
San Mateo, California. His practice also includes the management of the much anticipated EBL&S
mixed-use development ventures in Orlando, Florida and New Haven, Connecticut. As practice
leader, Alan was responsible for all of the development and planning activities for the EBL&S
mixed-use, transit-oriented development in San Mateo known as Station Park Green.
Prior to joining EBL&S, Alan, with a number of early practioners, was involved in projects
which defined what New Urbanism is today. Alan has participated in award-winning mixed use
projects with Andres Duany, who is recognized as the father of New Urbanism. Alan is an active
member of the Urban Land Institute and is a keynote presenter this year at the International
Council of Shopping Centers conference on Mixed Use Development. This event is co-sponsored
by the American Resort Development Association, Building Owners and Managers Association,
National Association of Industrial and Office Properties, and the National Multi Family
Housing Council.
David K. Roscher, Esq., Secretary and General Counsel
David serves as Secretary and General Counsel for EBL&S handling real estate matters both internally and in conjunction with outside counsel. He has extensive experience with land use, acquisitions, financing, construction, and leasing. Throughout his career, David has provided representation for large-scale commercial, retail, and industrial developments.
Prior to joining EBL&S in 2004, David was Of Counsel at Ballard Spahr Andrews & Ingersoll, LLP where he represented public interest and community development organizations, charitable foundations, institutions of higher education, and various real estate developers. He was involved in the retail development of the Suburban Station Concourse in Philadelphia. He also served as in-house counsel to Kravco Company in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania. David received an A.B. from Franklin & Marshall College and a J.D. from Villanova University School of Law.
Hillary S. Weiss, Project Development Coordinator
Hillary, a Certified Public Accountant, is currently serving as EBL&S’ Development Coordinator
and is charged with monitoring the team’s progress to ensure compliance with project objectives. She functions as a liasion between internal and external team members to maintain a consistent line of communication for project management.
Prior to joining EBL&S in 1988, Hillary was a Financial Syndication Analyst with Historic Landmarks
for Living where she was involved in residential market research analysis and syndication
modeling for investors. She began her career as a Tax Consultant at Deloitte specializing in real
estate clients. Hillary is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and
received a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics/Accounting from Brooklyn College.
Michael C. Fuhrman, Project Manager
Michael, a Certified Planner of the American Institute of Certified Planners, specializes in the development, implementation, and management of facilities and infrastructure. Michael's professional experience includes project management, economic analysis, transit planning, strategic planning, and development of infrastructure technology programs and he has developed plans, programs, and policies for the development and management of over 5 billion dollars in physical infrastructure. Prior to joining EBL&S Michael was a prnicipal in MCFA, LLC, an infrastructure and energy consultancy, which focused on public and private partnerships with the federal government.
He most recently managed an Army program valued at $1.5 billion to develop private sector real estate project on federal land. Michael received a Bachelors of Art degree from Rutgers University and a Masters of Public Policy and Management from the University of Pittsburgh.
Dale Knieriemen, Project Manager
Dale is a registered Professional Engineer and specializes in Facility Management, Program Management, Project Management, and Construction Management services. Additionally, he has experience in: resource management, personnel management, civil works programs, energy management programs, environmental services and strategic planning.
Prior to joining EBL&S, Dale was an officer with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and retired with the rank of Colonel. He has worked on six continents over a 26-year career in senior leadership positions managing as many as 5,000 people and several billions of dollars per year in other resources. Dale received a Bachelors of Science from the University of Toledo and a Masters of Science from the University of Florida.
