TRANSIT-ORIENTED DEVELOPMENT
As the urban and suburban real estate vistas have changed, the company has shifted focus to capitalize on new frontiers in residential, commercial and retail development. The company’s strategically-located shopping centers lend themselves to exciting mixed-use redevelopment opportunities. The development team at EBL&S has entitled, developed, converted and redeveloped more than 30 commercial properties and thousands of residential units. Members of the in-house team have also been responsible for the passage of mixed-use Planned Urban Developments and the entitlements and development of several subdivisions. The principals are currently working on transforming three shopping centers into transit-oriented residential villages.
Transit-oriented developments, or “TODs”, contribute to the built environment by connecting higher-density development to local transportation lines. Transit-oriented developments aim to reduce automobile reliance, encourage pedestrian-friendly pathways and communities, and improve access to neighborhood services.
